Brainstorming, how it works?

Learn Brainstorming, how it works? with this comprehensive tutorial from Noveli. Master storytelling techniques with AI-powered tools.

🧭 Overview

The Brainstorming page is your starting point for crafting a compelling novel. It helps you define your story’s core vision and break it down into structured elements — both universal and genre-specific — that will guide the rest of your writing journey.

🧠 Brainstorming: Main Vision

The Main Vision tab is where your novel begins to take shape.

✍️ What is it?

This section lets you define the core idea behind your story. Think of it as your novel’s foundation — the starting point from which all characters, events, and worldbuilding will grow.

🪄 What to write?

Use the text area to describe your overall story vision. This should include:

The setting of your story (e.g. post-apocalyptic future, magical kingdom, modern city)

Your main character(s) and their goals

The central conflict or driving tension in the plot

What makes your story world special or unique

The more specific and imaginative you are, the better the AI can help you later.

⚙️ What happens next?

Once you’ve written your vision, click [ Generate Story Elements ]. This will analyze your input and generate genre-specific elements to help you move forward — such as possible plot structures, character archetypes, and world details.

📝 Tip: You can always update your vision later. The more refined your vision, the more tailored your generated content will be.

✨ Brainstorming: Story Elements

The Story Elements tab is where your story begins to take form through structure and clarity. It includes two key types of elements: Universal and Genre-Specific.

📦 Universal Storytelling Elements

This section is always visible and includes 7 essential storytelling fields that apply to every novel, regardless of genre:

Character

Side Characters

Antagonist

Conflict

Themes

World

Secrets

These fields will be auto-filled based on your Main Vision when you click [Generate from Main Vision], but you can also edit them manually to refine your story.

🎭 Genre-Specific Elements

In addition to the universal elements, you'll also see a genre-based card that includes storytelling components tailored to the genre you've selected for your novel — for example:

For sci-fi: Technology Level, Alien Life, Space Travel...

For thriller: Thriller Premise, Moral Dilemma...

For comedy: Humor Style, Comeuppance, Heartfelt Moment...

These fields are filled the same way — using your Main Vision as the input and can also be edited at any time.

🛠️ Tools & Actions

Generate from Main Vision Auto-fills both Universal and Genre-Specific Elements based on your story vision.

Replace Replaces your unstructured Main Vision with the generated elements in a structured format.

Append Adds the structured elements to the bottom of your existing Main Vision (without replacing anything, in case you believe your main vision was well structured).

📝 Tip: Updating and refining these elements makes the AI assistant more accurate when helping you build characters, worlds, and events.
